About Us

Our aim is to breed solid white,

strong bodied Huacaya Alpacas,

with superior fleece production.

Through our breeding principles

we select for lustrous fleece with

deep bold crimp made up of long, thin staples all over the body.

We are already seeing a dramatic gain in each generation of animals.

Our aim at Annkea Alpacas is to produce seed stock that have:

  • An adult body weight of 70kg, well structured, moderately framed and fertile

  • A fleece weight at second shearing of 5 to 6 Kg

  • Staple length of over 200mm - hence the need to be shorn twice yearly

  • Skin density of over 80 follicles per mm².

  • Primary follicle finer than secondary follicle

  • Micron variation across the body of less than 1 (one) micron

  • A clean face and clean legs

  • Consistency of fibre crimp across body

  • HIGH crimp amplitude

  • Good temperament...We consider this to be extremely important for ease of handling, especially for shows, sales and movement of animals.

  • Increased lustre

  • Increased length of neck fleece for commercial value

Annkea Alpacas was established in 2004.

Our farm has excellent facilities specifically designed for Alpaca breeding. This includes large shed areas for shearing, housing of alpacas as well as weighing, drenching, preparing for showing and indoor matings.

We also have facilities for Fleece Collections. We are a collection point for AFN(Aust) - a voluntary fleece collection and sales organisation. We accommodate tons of alpaca fibre awaiting sales and transport.
